Since our inception we’ve used tea extensively in our cocktails, and now our longtime dream of creating an exclusive Death & Co tea blend has come true! We teamed up with LA-based Art of Tea to develop Fleur Noire, a blend of rich Pu-erh tea, earthy apple, and fragrant rose that’s delicious on its own and makes a unique addition to cocktails via infusions, syrups, cordials, and more.
This collaboration was spearheaded by Maggie Sanders, manager of our DC/AM coffee bar in Denver. “We we wanted to find a tea that represented the way that our café feels in the mornings. This means that it would need velvety comfort, bright sunshine, depth, and warmth. This black tea base is lightly fermented, giving it darkness, funk, and flavor that was missing from a standalone varietal. The addition of rose gives Fleur Noire botanical depth, which makes it perfect for use in more complex beverages—both at the café and at the bar. Earthy apple lends brightness to the tea without adding a bunch of sugar or diluting the flavor. In this way, our collaboration with Art of Tea tastes the way our DC/AM cafe strives to make all of our guests feel: A cup of comfort on a snowy morning, yet still approachable on a warm summer weekend.”
